Well friends, it’s been 2 years and a lifetime since we’ve seen you, and we’re ecstatic to say we’re BACK! We can’t wait to see you all! Here’s the scoop…
Where and When?
•Sundays 4-6:15 pm, Starting April 24th, 2022
•Jimmie Simpson Community Center, 870 Queen St. E. Toronto
How much?
•$10 drop in
•$30 for a 4-session punch card
•Register at https://airtable.com/shr4C7UHVlpxgA2Bf to skate with Mixin’ Vixens. (We will add you to the Mixin’ Vixens members Facebook group if you’re not already there, where we post updates about practices.)
•We accept e-transfers for practices either in advance, or on the night of to tomixinvixens@gmail.com.
What do I need for practice?
•You need to have up-to-date derby insurance, which is part of your WFTDI membership. Sign up or renew at https://www.wftdicanada.ca/ before coming to practice. You will need to provide your insurance number for our records.
•You need to be fully vaccinated (3 preferred, but 2 accepted if 2nd is within 3 months). You will need to show your vaccine passport.
•Please do not attend if you have Covid symptoms.
•Masks are not mandatory, but encouraged while sitting close together and doing any contact (contact will not be on the agenda for the first while).
•Note: We do not have extra derby equipment, so if you need equipment, we encourage you to visit our friend: Nitro Skates
How does practice work?
•Practice begins on skates at 4:05 pm, please come early to get changed outside of the gym. We will skate til 6pm, and need to leave the building by 6:15 pm
•We will have 2 parts of practice: Freshie & Mins passed Skaters
•For Freshie skaters we will be conducting light learn-to-skate skills, we will launch a full fresh meat program in the summer (tbd on timing).
•For Mins passed skaters we will begin with basic skills, no contact to get our skate legs back on track.
•NOTE: April 24th practice will be all fun, get those track legs under you again, we’ll skate in circles (y’know turning left :)) playing skills games etc.
Most important point. WILL THERE BE NACHOS?
Barrio is still going, and so is our love of nachos, all skaters are welcome to join us for food & drink after practice https://barrioonqueen.com/
